Ethical Breeding
Mission
To eliminate PLN & PLE and other serious genetic diseases from the breed.
Breeding Practises
All affiliated breeders with the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of
Australasia, comply with and abide by the following guidelines:
1. Do not breed from affected dogs.
2. Will remove as breeding prospects the progeny of dogs affected with any serious genetic disorders.
3. Will discontinue breeding known carriers as soon if and when they are identified.
4. Will remove as breeding prospects any dog, with dogs affected with
diseases with no known mode of transmission, anywhere in it's five
generation pedigree.
5. Do not interbreed, with or to close relatives, of affected dogs.
6. Do not breed any dog unless the current health status of both the dog and the bitch is known by the breeder.
Health Testing
All breeding stock is regularly health tested using the accepted
testing protocols laid down by the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of
America and the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of Great Britain. This
information will be provided to potential puppy buyers as requested.
Puppies
All puppies bred that are not kept by the breeder or sold to another
registered breeder as breeding/show dogs, will be placed on the limited
ANKC pedigree register so as not to be bred from, and will be desexed
at or about six to twelve months or age.
