What is the SCWTCA
The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of Australasia represents breeders of true to type Irish style softcoated wheaten terriers throughout Australia and New Zealand. All breeders identified on the site commit to furthering the breed through the sensible use of healthy dogs to promote and further the breed for the generations to come.

Australia has had a rocky time with wheatens over the past 25 or so
years with health issues surfacing in some quarters. Responsible
breeders have moved to those Irish lines which have a documented
history of clear health.
And for those interested: "No, we
are
not involved in WHAP. WHAP is a small collective of vocal breeders who
continue to breed from wheaten lines closely related to affected dogs
and/or dogs that have produced affected dogs. The breeders involved in
WHAP are frantically looking to determine whether their dogs are
affected or are carriers etc due to their pedigrees. Those involved with WHAP own and continue
to breed dogs that have close relatives listed as producing or having
hereditary disease on international health registers. The breeding
lines of members of this collective (scwtca.org.au) have no historical record of hereditary disease. This can be
demonstrated by the many health registers kept by wheaten breed clubs
in the US, Sweden and the UK. This evidence can be provided as
required".
